Hilcorp plans Happy Valley gravel pad, 2 gas exploration wells

Hilcorp Alaska has applied to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, to construct a new gravel pad, Happy Valley Middle Pad, and access road in the Deep Creek unit near Ninilchik, and to drill up to two gas exploration wells.

A 2.29-mile gravel access road will be constructed to tie the new pad into an existing logging road.

Site preparation work, subject to permitting, is proposed to start in late September, with road construction and pad construction in October through early November.

The first well would be drilled from mid-December through mid-January. The second well will depend on results of the first well. It is tentatively planned for May.

Aurora Exploration plans 2 exploratory gas wells

Aurora Exploration Inc. has applied to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, for a project including two exploratory gas wells on the west side of Cook Inlet.

The Theodore River well is planned for this fall with drilling on a temporary matted and/or gravel fill pad immediately adjacent to the existing Beluga Highway.

The Chedatna Lakes well is planned for this winter as it requires off-road travel for approximately one mile from the Beluga Highway.

The wells are on the west side of Cook Inlet in the onshore Beluga-area gas development region.

Drilling at Theodore River is proposed for October through mid-November, with drilling at the Chedatna Lakes prospect from the end of December through mid-February.
