BLM issues drilling permit, ROW, for GMT1

The federal Bureau of Land Management has issued a drilling permit and offered a right-of-way grant for ConocoPhillips' proposed Greater Mooses Tooth unit GMT1 development.

The agency said this morning that GMT1 oil and gas production would be the first from federal land in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

The GMT1 project includes an 11.8-acre drilling pad, above-ground elevated pipelines and an electric power line.

BLM said the project will provide access to both federal and Arctic Slope Regional Corp. oil and gas resources.

The permit to drill is valid for two years or until the lease expires, whichever occurs first.

ConocoPhillips said last January that it was slowing the pace of investment at GMT1 and deferring the final investment decision for the project.
