Hilcorp bringing Seaview online this year

A new natural gas development will soon be online on the southern Kenai Peninsula.

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas said in a notice dated April 27 that Hilcorp Alaska has filed for authorization for the development phase of its Seaview project near Anchor Point.

Hilcorp drilled stratigraphic tests in the area in 2017 and applied to the state in the summer of 2018 to construct the Seaview pad, where it planned to drill two exploration wells. The pad is on the site of an existing mine near Anchor Point.

The discovery well, Seaview No. 8, was completed in December 2018 to a vertical depth of 10,148 feet. Hilcorp said that the well was tested for gas in May 2019.

The division said the company proposes to begin work this August with work expected to last until next February, with 75 days of facility construction expected and drilling operations to follow.

Hilcorp said it plans to bring the Seaview No. 8 online as a gas production well late this year, with drilling of the Seaview No. 9 planned for late this year.

Bringing the Seaview Pad online will involve installing gas production facilities on the existing pad and building a gas pipeline from the pad to tie into the existing Enstar gas transmission pipeline, the company said.
