PNA changes name, expands coverage
Petroleum News staff
Starting with its April 6 edition, Petroleum News Alaska is changing its name to Petroleum News. The Anchorage-based weekly newspaper is expanding its oil and gas coverage over the next nine months to include Canada and the continental United States. “For several years we’ve had a Calgary correspondent; more recently we added a Houston writer,” Petroleum News publisher Kay Cashman said April 2.
“We’ve always covered northern Canada and significant North American and international news, but with the possibility of one or two Arctic gas pipelines, we decided the time was right to officially include Canada and the Lower 48 in our reporting,” she said.
The newspaper’s Alaska staff has also been expanded with the addition of two freelance writers; one in Fairbanks and one in Anchorage: “We expect the oil patch in Alaska to boom in the next two years. The new writers will help us keep on top of it,” Cashman said.
