Alaskans named liaisons to working group

Four Alaskans have been designated as liaisons to the Interagency Working Group on Coordination of Domestic Energy Development and Permitting in Alaska established by presidential executive order on July 12.

The working group, chaired by Deputy Secretary of the Interior David Hayes, is coordinating federal efforts to develop and permit responsible offshore and onshore energy resources and associated infrastructure in Alaska.

The four represent state, local, tribal and NGO communities in Alaska:

• Ed Fogels, deputy commissioner, Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Alaska state government liaison;

• Kathy Wasserman, executive director, Alaska Municipal League, local government liaison;

• Eric Myers, policy director for Audubon Alaska, NGO community liaison; and

• Ralph Andersen, chief executive officer of the Bristol Bay Native Association, the Alaska Native community liaison.

Senior advisor to the Secretary of the Interior Kim Elton has been designated as the primary point of contact to facilitate communications between Alaskans and the working group, and will work closely with the newly named liaisons.
