Oil Patch Bits: Crowley launches new LCL service from Chicago

To better serve customers making smaller shipments to Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America from the U.S. Midwest, Crowley Maritime Corp.’s logistics group launched a new weekly less-than-container load or LCL service from Chicago on June 17. The new service utilizes Crowley vessels and a single point of contact within the company to ensure accountability and that the movement of customers’ cargoes is managed and monitored effectively and reliably.

“The addition of this service is yet another extension of Crowley’s commitment to providing total cargo and supply chain solutions to our customers,” said Frank Larkin, Crowley senior vice president and general manager, logistics. “With LCL shipments now being handled from Chicago, Crowley can offer efficient, fast and reliable logistics services throughout the Midwest. This new service should be particularly attractive to our existing customers, NVOs; freight forwarders; and individuals who have a need to ship less than a full container load of freight at competitive rates. Customers may also leverage our experience in moving freight internationally with Crowley handling the complexities of customs clearance, import/export documentation, transportation services, customer deliveries and more.”

Crowley customers can also take advantage of additional logistics services, including warehousing and distribution, cross docking, air-freight consolidations and cargo insurance.
