Wiser Oil discovery has 134 feet of pay

Exploration and production independent Wiser Oil said Dec. 2 it made a “significant” new field discovery at Ship Shoal Block 322 on the Gulf of Mexico’s continental shelf.

The discovery well, located about 75 miles offshore Louisiana in 313 feet of water, was drilled to a total depth of 7,300 feet, encountering about 134 feet of gross sand in the productive interval, Dallas-based Wiser said.

Wiser said the well is currently being completed and will be tied back to an existing production platform. Production is expected to begin in early 2004, the company said. Wiser owns a 25 percent working interest in the new discovery, which is operated by independent Remington Oil and Gas.
