State offering new one-stop shopping for DEC permit process

Josie Hartwell

Making the permitting process easier is the goal of a new public service being offered by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.

A draft permit questionnaire is available at the DEC web site to help people identify what DEC permits or approvals, if any, are required at the beginning of a project. By answering a series of questions, people are guided through the process of submitting a complete application.

Some individual DEC divisions have permit information at their web sites, but the new feature is designed as a “one-stop shopping” site with permit information for the entire agency.

The permit questionnaire is available at the DEC’s web site: http://www.state.ak.us/local/akpages/ENV.CONSERV/home.htm.
