RDC celebrates 25 years in Alaska

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

June 8 anniversary gala at the Anchorage Sheraton draws crowd of 500, including past RDC presidents and executive directors

Twenty-five years ago, the Organization for the Management of Alaska’s Resources — i.e. OMAR, predecessor to the Resource Development Council —had a single mission. It was to see a gas pipeline built on Alaska soil from Prudhoe Bay to tidewater.

Today, RDC promotes several industries, such as oil and gas, minerals, fisheries, timber and tourism.

On June 8, more than 500 RDC members from around the state celebrated the organization’s 25th anniversary at a banquet and dance at the Anchorage Sheraton. The following photos, taken by freelance photographer Judy Patrick and RDC staff member Carl Portman, are from that celebration.
