PETROLEUM DIRECTORY: Era adds another Dash 8 to its fleet

Anchorage-based Era Aviation has added a fourth de Havilland Dash 8 aircraft to its fleet, the company announced on June 14. The new aircraft will enable up to seven flights daily between Anchorage and Kodiak and an unprecedented level of service to Kenai during the busy month of July, the company said.

“This has long been planned as a replacement for Era’s aging Convair 580 fleet,” said company President and CEO Paul Landis, “and will allow us to better serve all of our markets within the state.”

Era serves Cordova, Homer, Kenai, Kodiak, and Valdez from Anchorage, as well as 17 villages in Western Alaska from Bethel. The company operates nine de Havilland Twin Otter aircraft in addition to its Dash 8s. The Dash 8 is a twin engine, two pilot, medium-range aircraft with a stand-up cabin and in-flight service, the company said.
