Kent named DEC deputy commissioner

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation said July 22 that Lynn Kent has been named deputy commissioner.

Kent has more than 25 years of experience in federal and state environmental and natural resource law and policy.

She has been director of DEC’s Division of Water for the last six years and previously served as program manager for the department’s water quality program, contaminated sites program and the spill prevention, planning and management program.

Kent takes over for Dan Easton who retires after serving 20 years with the department including six years as deputy commissioner.

Kent begins work as deputy commissioner on Aug. 16 and will transition to the Juneau office over time.

DEC said it is beginning the process to find a new director for the Division of Water.
