BP Amoco ANS July price up 9 percent

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

BP Amoco’s July term price for Alaska North Slope crude oil is $29.58 a barrel, up 8.95 percent ($2.43 a barrel) from the June term price of $27.15. The year-to-date average is $26.67 a barrel, up 105 percent from the comparable 1999 year-to-date average term price of $13 a barrel.

The July term price is the high for the year. The low for the year so far is $23.96 a barrel set in May.

BP is the only North Slope producer to post a term price. Phillips Alaska Inc. is now the largest producer of ANS crude, but spokeswoman Dawn Patience told PNA that Phillips does not plan to post a term price.
