Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Phillips Petroleum Co. said Jan. 21 that Thomas D. O’Malley is resigning as a member of its board of directors effective immediately in order to pursue other business opportunities in the energy industry.

O’Malley joined the Phillips board in 2001 upon Phillips’ acquisition of Tosco Corp. He had been chairman and CEO of Tosco. Prior to that he was vice president of Salomon Inc. and CEO of its wholly owned division Philbro Energy Inc.

The resignation of O’Malley reduces the total number of Phillips directors to 10.
