Alliance sets ‘Meet Alaska’ lineup

Technology is the theme of the 2004 Alaska Support Industry Alliance ‘Meet Alaska’ conference and both national and local speakers are on the agenda for the Jan. 23 event, which will be at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel.

The 2004 conference theme is: ‘today’s look at tomorrow’s technology.’

Invited speakers include Mike Leavitt, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency and James Slutz, deputy assistant secretary of oil and gas for the U.S. Department of Energy.

On the industry side, Kevin Meyers, president of ConocoPhillips Alaska will be speaking, as will Joe Leone, president of ConocoPhillips’ Upstream Technologies.

Steve Marshall, president of BP Exploration (Alaska), is on the speaker rooster, as is Tony Meggs, BP’s group vice president, technologies.

U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, will address the conference, and Richard Neufeld, British Columbia Minister of Energy and Mines has also been invited.

Diana Severs Ferguson, president of Shaw Environmental and Infrastructure, and Red Cavaney, president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute round out the agenda.
