TransCanada withdraws FERC pre-filing

TransCanada Alaska has terminated its National Environmental Policy Act pre-filing review process for the overland natural gas project from the North Slope to the Lower 48. TransCanada told the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Aug. 26 that it is requesting that the docket for the project be closed.

The company said that it and ExxonMobil Alaska Midstream Gas Investments “continue to explore a project in Alaska, which may benefit from some of the extensive work performed during the APP pre-filing process,” and requested that FERC maintain the administrative record for the overland Alaska Pipeline Project “for reference” in any subsequent filings for an Alaska project by TransCanada, ExxonMobil “and their respective affiliates and co-venturers.”

TransCanada and ExxonMobil are currently working with BP, ConocoPhillips and the Alaska Gasline Development Corp. on a liquefied natural gas project.
