Change in areawide sale dates

The months in which the state’s annual areawide Beaufort Sea and Cook Inlet oil and gas lease sales will be held have been changed.

Ken Boyd, director of the Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas, said Feb. 24 that the onshore North Slope areawide sale will continue to be held in February.

For administrative reasons, he said, the rest of the schedule will shift. This year the Beaufort Sea areawide sale will be in October, but next year it will be in May and will continue to be held in May in succeeding years.

The Cook Inlet areawide sale, scheduled for this April, will shift to August in the year 2000 and remain in August.
