Hilcorp applies to expand Milne B Pad

Petroleum News

Hilcorp Alaska has applied to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas for a unit plan of operations amendment for its Milne Point unit, allowing it to expand B Pad and install a pipe wash and inspection facility, the division said in a Jan. 31 public notice. The division is accepting comments on the proposal through 4:30 p.m. March 1.

In its Jan. 26 request, Hilcorp said it planned to expand Pad B at Milne Point and construct a pipe wash and inspection facility "to improve efficiency for washing and inspecting pipes and to provide adequate space to store the pipes."

Some 5,250 cubic yards of gravel will be used to expand Pad B by some 0.65 acres. The company's proposed schedule calls for gravel to be placed beginning at the end of February, or as soon as all permits are received, followed by grading and leveling the pad, constructing the wash facility building beginning in April, including a concrete subfloor, with installation of pipe washing and inspection equipment beginning in June.

The wash and inspection facility will be some 30 feet wide by 120 feet long, and provide cleaning and inspection equipment for drill pipes, tubing and casings.

Hilcorp said the expansion will be on the north and northeast side of the pad and by some 60 feet wide by 400 feet long on the north and 20 feet wide by 200 feet long on the northeast.
