Mining News: Northern Neighbors: Goldstrike adds claims on Big Bang discovery

Goldstrike Resources Ltd. Sept. 13 said additional prospecting, mapping and sampling has doubled the known length of the Yellow Giant trend to 50 kilometers (31 miles). The company has staked additional claims to cover this extension of the gold trend on its Plateau property in the Yukon Territory. Based on strong initial gold assays and observations of new mineralized outcrop, Goldstrike staked claims covering an additional 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) on trend to the northwest to cover the full extent of the newly discovered Bonanza and Big Bang zones. Bonanza consists of a swarm of vertical parallel veins that contain the most pervasive visible gold mineralization identified at Plateau so far. Assays from rock grab samples taken from the Bonanza Zone have returned up to 436.4 grams-per-metric-ton gold. Big Bang, located 10 kilometers northwest of Bonanza, covers multiple outcrops of quartz stockwork and breccia over a more than four-square-kilometer (990 acres) area that remains open. An initial rock grab sample taken from this area returned 22.4 g/t gold. Extensive additional prospecting and sampling was recently completed.
