Oil Patch Bits: ASRC remembers elder Morgan Anniqsuaq Solomon

Arctic Slope Regional Corp. is remembering elder Morgan Anniqsuaq Solomon as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Sept. 20 at the age of 80, surrounded by his family. Solomon grew up in the North Slope community of Wainwright but spent considerable time in Barrow where he was a member of the George Ahmaogak Sr. whaling crew. He also served on the ASRC board of directors from 1980 to 1982. Solomon later moved to the Interior.

“Passing down the traditional knowledge as an Iñupiat Eskimo to his children and grandchildren was very important to Solomon,” said Rex A. Rock Sr., ASRC president and CEO. “Our deepest condolences go out to the Solomon family, especially Julia, his wife of more than 50 years and his children Edward, Alexander, Margaret and Kate Mary.”

Solomon served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1960 and in the Alaska Territorial Guard throughout the 1960s.
