Chevron to study importing LNG to West Coast

Chevron Corp. said March 19 that it is reviewing options for importing liquefied natural gas to the West Coast.

The company said that if the project was found to be economically viable, first supplies of LNG could begin arriving as early as 2005 from Australia. As part of the project review, Chevron said it would evaluate alternatives — including offshore — for receiving terminal facilities.
