Mining News: Northern Neighbors: Goldstrike eyes more visible gold found at Plateau’s Bonanza zone

Goldstrike Resources Ltd. July 5 reported that this year’s initial prospecting and mapping at its Plateau property in the Yukon has already resulted in a significant new gold discovery 4,000 meters from and on trend with the Goldstack zone. The company said this new find, dubbed the Bonanza zone, contains the most pervasive visible gold seen in bedrock at Plateau to date. Exposed on surface over a 12- by 20-meter area, this zone contains an extensive quartz stockwork system containing widespread visible gold and remains open in all directions. Initial mapping of the Bonanza zone has identified two distinct sets of veining containing coarse visible gold that measure between 0.6 and 1.2 meters wide, span the entire extent of the outcrop and remain open in all directions. The visible gold occurs within and on the margins of the quartz veins. The largest pieces of visible gold initially observed are a coarse circular shaped piece of gold measuring five millimeters across, and another elongated shaped piece of coarse gold measuring 6 millimeters. The mapping and prospecting program, which has just begun, is focused on expanding known areas of gold mineralization and discovering new mineralized zones in the surrounding area. “The Goldstrike team is very excited that these results have been achieved so early in the program. They have already exceeded our expectations, and provide further confirmation of the tremendous untapped potential of the entire Plateau property,” said Goldstrike Chief Geologist Trevor Bremner. Structural mapping is also being carried out at the Goldstack Zone to confirm the structural controls on the gold mineralization in preparation for drilling designed to expand on the known gold mineralization along strike and to depth. Goldstack Zone is a seven-meter-wide gold-bearing outcrop where drilling in 2015 cut 17.5 meters grading 13.5 grams per metric ton gold.
