BP buys some gas assets

Petroleum News Alaska

TransCanada PipeLines Ltd. said Sept. 21 that it has reached an agreement to sell certain natural gas marketing and trading operations to BP Gas and Power.

TransCanada said it continues with its process to divest the majority of its natural gas marketing and trading operations and most of its natural gas transportation and storage contracts and will focus on its core natural gas transmission and power businesses in Canada and the northern tier of the United States. TransCanada has a network of approximately 38,000 kilometers of pipeline which transports the majority of western Canada's natural gas production to markets in Canada and the United States.
