Q. What do you most want people to know about your company?

A. Alaska Dreams, Inc. has established itself as a leader in the fabric covered structure industry nationwide as well as being a pre-engineered steel building dealer/builder. We have actively produced the sales and construction of approximately three (3) million square feet of commercial & industrial buildings.

Q. What year was the company founded and by whom?

A. Alaska Dreams, Inc. was founded in 1994 by owners Meini and Anna Huser.

Q. What is the company’s primary business sector?

A. We provide a broad range of innovative building solutions, construction products and services, including but not limited to sales, general construction and design/build projects.

Q. Are there important projects the company is currently a part of or has done recently?

A. Understanding that our success is built by our client’s success, we handle all of our projects with equal importance regardless of size or contract amount. This concept has been proven to be beneficial for both our company and our clients for over18 years of business.

Q. How many employees does your company have?

A. We employee 20 employees year round and during the height of construction season this can spike up to 40 employees.

Q. Describe the equipment your company might use and are there any new purchases planned?

A. We utilize a wide array of equipment (i.e. scissor lifts, articulating and telescopic booms, telehandlers, generators, cranes, skid steers, etc.)

Q. Is your company expanding any of its operations or locations?

A. Yes we have been expanding our area of operations significantly in the past year. Beginning with the acquisition of Alaska Cover-All, LLC and securing an owner interest with Custom Canvas Alaska, LLC (www.customcanvasalaska.com) we are expanding our presence, resources, products and services being offered to our clients.

Q. Is the company changing any of its services?

A. Since 1994, we’ve been providing products to solve our customer’s challenges – and that process never ends. In partnering with several premier building manufactures to ensure we have the newest and most advanced products available for our customers, which are designed to industry standards that help increase quality, lower costs and give our customers exceptional value.

Q. What is your company’s main strength or its edge over the competition?

A. Consistency along with the knowledge of the Alaska market and the special challenges that come along with it. While never being intimidated to attempt new ideas/concepts and seek solutions outside of the “box”. The flexibility to address almost any customers building needs, plus the ability to manufacture custom fabric material, such as replacement covers, wall panels, spill containment liners etc. right here in Fairbanks “Made in Alaska”.

Q. What new markets, clients or projects did your company attract in the last year?

A. Private Sector, Federal, State, and Local Governments, and Public/Private Partnerships.

We also target the environmental protection market, with our line of spill containments and spill protective fabric liner membranes.

Q. What is the most challenging job the company has undertaken? 

A. 110’ (W) x 210’ (L) Seward Ship’s Dry Dock…peak height is approximately 112’ (H).

Q. What are the biggest obstacles to completing work the company undertakes?

A. Completing projects on time and within budget in spite of challenges and the harsh weather working environments in the State of Alaska, surrounding regions and remote site locations.

Q. What do you see as your company’s biggest challenge in the next five years?

A. Managing rising operational costs and improving our efficiencies in order to maintain profitability. To be able to provide the customers service that Alaska Dreams Inc has provided in the past.

Q. Does your company have an anniversary or other landmark event coming up?

A. Alaska Dreams, Inc. celebrated its 18th Anniversary January 2012.

Q. What is the average length of time employee’s work for the company?

A. On average our employees are with us for 3 years.

Q. What is your company’s safety record? What steps does the company take to ensure a safe work environment?

A. “Team up for Safety” is our company’s safety slogan. The safety of our employees and everyone working on or occupying the job site is one of the most important aspects of our projects. All our employees receive thorough training, which ensures our projects are completed in the safest manner possible. Our constant reduction of job site accidents is a direct result from developing and enforcing our company’s safety plan and training which is the key focus of our projects and future company success.

Q. Has your company been involved in any community projects or charities events?

A. Alaska Dreams, Inc. believes in promoting and contributing in the success of people, partnerships, and corporations engaged in the community. We regularly support a variety of local organizations such as: Relay for Life, HIPOW, Spirit of Alaska/Kids Safety Fair, World Eskimo Indian Olympics and POW WOW and also contribute towards worldwide disaster or emergency causes.
