Transocean lands contract for Discoverer Seven Seas

Big offshore drilling contractor Transocean has signed a three-year, $137-million contract with India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corp. for the drillship Discoverer Seven Seas, Transocean said Aug. 6.

The integrated services contract is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2004, following the mobilization of the rig from a Brazilian shipyard to India, Transocean said. Discoverer Seven Seas is a dynamically positioned drillship capable of drilling in water depths up to 7,000 feet.
