Mining News: Herbert Gold core looks good

Grande Portage Resources Ltd. Oct. 5 announced the completion of a 3,700-meter drill program at its Herbert Gold property about 16 miles north of Juneau, Alaska. So far, the company has outlined 821,000 metric tons of indicated resources averaging 6.91 g/t (182,400 oz) gold; and 51,600 metric tons of inferred resources averaging 7.73 g/t (12,800 oz) gold. This year’s 12-hole program aims to add to this high-grade gold resource by testing extensions of three major veins and their satellite structures. Grande Portage said core from many of the holes drilled this year has good visual indicators, including quartz with disseminated arsenopyrite, pyrite, galena and sphalerite and visible gold. Three holes tested the Deep Trench vein much deeper than any previous drilling with very good visual results. Hole 17Y-2 hit visible gold in the Deep Trench vein over 300 meters below sea level which is a good indication that strong grades are not limited by depth. Drilling on the Goat vein was designed to extend the known strike length of the mineralization previously drilled from only one pad. Intersections of the vein drilled prove a strike length of at least 300 meters. Grande Portage said surface outcrops and topographic features indicate the vein could extend to at least 600 meters. The deepest drilling on the Goat to date is slightly less than 200 meters. "For some time, our team has known that the Herbert gold discovery has significant expansion potential and this is evidenced by the fact we continue to intercept gold bearing veins laterally and at depths not encountered before," said Grande Portage CEO Ian Klassen. Assays from the 2017 drill program are pending.
