Kevin Meyers named president of Calgary-based ConocoPhillips Canada

ConocoPhillips has made changes to its exploration and production senior management team, all effective Dec. 1.

The change of most interest to Canadians is former ConocoPhillips Alaska President Kevin Meyers is relocating to Calgary to take the reins of ConocoPhillips Canada.

Currently president of the exploration and production segment of ConocoPhillips’ Russia and Caspian region president, Meyers will become president of ConocoPhillips Canada, succeeding Brent Smolik, who left the company.

Don Wallette, vice-president, Shtokman project, will become president, Russia and Caspian region, succeeding Meyers.

Conoco is a major player across northern Alaska’s border in the Mackenzie Delta, on and offshore. The company is one of four partners in the Mackenzie Gas Project with Imperial, Shell and ExxonMobil.

Meyers joined ARCO Exploration and Production in Plano, Texas, in 1980 and held a number of positions in ARCO’s E&P operations in both Texas and Alaska, including senior vice president of the Prudhoe Bay business unit in 1996 and president of ARCO Alaska Inc. in March 1998. In August 1998, Meyers’ duties were expanded to include CEO of ARCO Alaska and senior vice president of Atlantic Richfield.

In 2000, Meyers became senior vice president of Alaska production and operations and president and CEO of Phillips Alaska. He was elected executive vice president of Alaska production and operations for Phillips Petroleum in 2001, and following the Conoco-Phillips merger in 2002, became president of ConocoPhillips Alaska. He was named president of ConocoPhillips’ Russia and Caspian region in October 2004.

Meyers will report to Randy Limbacher, executive vice president, exploration and production-Americas.
