Enstar reducing gas cost adjustment

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Enstar Natural Gas said Feb. 14 that the Regulatory Commission of Alaska has approved the company’s proposal to lower the gas cost adjustment.

The approval came Feb. 11 and Enstar said it would affect bills this year, beginning with the January billing cycle.

The company said the average residential customer should save approximately 4.7 percent per month (about $34 a year). Small commercial companies can expect a 5.1 percent reduction and large commercial customers a 5.9 percent reduction.

The revision decreases Enstar’s current gas cost adjustment by 17.5 cents per million cubic feet of gas.

Enstar said that it proposed the adjustment to reflect an overall decrease in gas supply costs.

Enstar Natural Gas is a division of Semco Energy Inc., a diversified energy and infrastructure company. Enstar distributes natural gas to more than 102,000 customers in the Anchorage area.
