Knowles to meet with BP, Shell

Steve Sutherlin

Gov. Tony Knowles had meetings in London March 13 through March 15 with top BP officials, including CEO John Browne, and officials of Shell Oil Co. to encourage more investments in Alaska energy development and to discuss the participation of Alaska companies in energy development in Sakhalin, the governor said in a statement.

The visit is part of a trade mission that includes a delegation of 20 Alaska business leaders continuing to Berlin March 16-18, and Frankfurt March 19.

“The presence of the governor on these trade missions opens doors for delegates to talk about what interests them, and of course to represent the interests of the state,” Bob King of the governor’s press office told PNA.
