Point Thomson public comment extended

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is extending the deadline to submit public comments on the proposed Point Thomson development on Alaska’s North Slope.

The new deadline is the end of the day Jan. 18. Originally the deadline was Jan. 3.

The public comment period pertains to the permit application Exxon Mobil Corp. and PTE Pipeline LLC submitted to the Corps for the project, which involves producing natural gas condensate from Point Thomson, located some 60 miles east of Prudhoe Bay.

PTE is a Houston-based affiliate of ExxonMobil Pipeline Co.

The extended public comment deadline of Jan. 18 also applies to the draft environmental impact statement the Corps has issued for the project.

Public notices with details on the proposed development and how to submit comments are available at www.poa.usace.army.mil/reg/PNnew.htm.
