Marushack heads Conoco in Alaska
Joe Marushack took over as president of ConocoPhillips Alaska April 1, succeeding Trond-Erik Johansen, who has headed the company’s Alaska operations since 2010.
Johansen has been named ConocoPhillips regional president for Europe, with activities centered around the North Sea, both the United Kingdom and Norway.
Marushack, most recently president of ConocoPhillips’ Asia Pacific and Middle East operations, was vice president gas development for Phillips Petroleum Alaska beginning in 2000, and continued in that position following the ConocoPhillips merger in 2002, heading the gas pipeline project for the company in Alaska for 6 years.
In February 2007 Marushack was named president, ConocoPhillips Australia where operations included the company’s Darwin Liquefied Natural Gas facility, Bayu-Undan operations and development activities, Browse Exploration and the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG Developments in Queensland).
Marushack returned to North America in 2010 when he was named president, ConocoPhillips Canada, managing the company’s oil sands, Western Canada conventional and unconventional, and Canadian Arctic developments.
He was named president Asia Pacific & Middle East in May 2012. Those operations included China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Timor Leste and Qatar production and developments.
Marushack was born in Norman, Oklahoma, and is a native of Rock Springs, Wyoming. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Wyoming in Laramie in 1980 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1982.
Marushack has served in numerous civic and charitable roles, including as past chairman of the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce.
