BP names Suttles to head Alaska operations
BP has named Doug Suttles president of BP Exploration (Alaska) effective Jan. 1, the company said Oct. 31. Suttles will also join the board of BP America and the BP America Operations Advisory Board, the company said.
He succeeds Steve Marshall, who will become BP’s vice president operations development and will develop and lead the BP Operations Academy. Marshall will remain based in Anchorage.
Suttles has 24 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, and spent eight years with BP in Alaska in various engineering and leadership roles. He has held a number of senior leadership posts in BP, most recently as president of BP Sakhalin, where he was responsible for BP’s activities in Sakhalin, Russia. He has also held senior leadership roles at BP including vice president Northern North Sea and president of BP’s Trinidadian oil business.
“The Alaska team has built a strong foundation for the future growth of our business in Alaska,” Suttles said in a statement. “It’s a future that includes progressing a gas pipeline, continued facilities and people renewal and a major focus on production of more viscous and heavy oil.”
Suttles has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Texas. He is married to Christy and has two children.
