AOGCC schedules tentative hearing on Endicott pool rules modification

Kristen Nelson

BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. has applied to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission for a modification of conservation order 202, rule 9, to remove the requirements of a key-well gas-oil contact monitoring program at the Endicott oil pool on Alaska's North Slope.

Rule 9, part of a 1984 order establishing operating rules for Endicott, includes a requirement for a compensated neutron log for each well prior to regular production, a compensated neutron log in one well per governmental section within 12 months after regular production starts and approval by the commission of a key-well gas-oil contact monitoring program within 12 months after the start of regular production.

The commission will take written comments through Oct. 9, and has tentatively set a public hearing for 9 a.m. Oct. 9. The commission said that if it receives no requests for a hearing by Sept. 20, it may issue an order without a hearing. Call 793-1221 to learn if the commission will hold this public hearing.
