BSEE implementing quality assurance process

The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement is implementing a program for the quality assurance of its permitting procedures, the agency announced March 26. Under the program, a directive issued by BSEE’s Office of Offshore Regulatory Programs requires the agency to periodically assess the permitting processes used by the agency’s districts and regions for consistency, timeliness and efficiency. Carefully selected teams of BSEE staff will develop assessment plans and conduct assessments. Assessments will, as applicable, involve site visits to districts.
“We owe it to the American people to ensure that our permit processes are efficient and decision making practices are consistent,” said BSEE Director Scott Angelle when announcing the quality assurance initiative. “Taking these actions now will promote BSEE’s effective monitoring of permit processes and provide an avenue to progress towards overall improvements such as decreased processing delays.”
