Unocal’s Dillon platform back on line

Kristen Nelson

Unocal Alaska Resources’ Cook Inlet Dillon platform went back into production Nov. 19 after being shut down for several weeks following an Oct. 23 oil leak estimated at 12 barrels from the pipeline which carries oil to shore.

Unocal Alaska spokeswoman Roxanne Sinz told PNA Dec. 13 that the company received approval from the state to more oil from the Dillon platform through another pipeline, one that runs from Dillon to Platform C and then to shore.

Sinz said that divers had located the leak in the pipeline, but wouldn’t repair it until next spring because of weather and ice conditions in the inlet. She said that April was the target for the repair, but that depended on weather conditions. The Dillon platform produces about 550 barrels of oil a day.
