Trust Land Office sale set for September

The Alaska Mental Health Trust Land Office will offer oil and gas leases at a sale planned for September. Mike Franger, the Trust Land Office's senior resource manager, told Petroleum News May 13 that the offering will include trust lands on the Kenai Peninsula that have not been previously offered, as well as tracts that have been offered in the past on the west side of Cook Inlet, but not leased.

The Trust Land Office conducted its first lease sale in September 2001, attracting nine bids for eight tracts and leasing some 40,000 acres. With subsequent leases, the agency now has almost 50,000 acres under lease in the Cook Inlet basin.
