Jim Duncan named deputy commissioner of Administration

Jim Duncan of Juneau has been named deputy commissioner of the Alaska Department of Administration.

Duncan, who served 12 years as a state representative and 12 years as a state senator, has been a special assistant to the commissioner on labor issues since February 1999.

In his new position Duncan will focus on the divisions of personnel, motor vehicles, general services, risk management, the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

Duncan has a Masters of Business Administration from Oregon State University.

Duncan will be the department’s second deputy commissioner. Alison Elgee will continue as deputy commissioner focused on Finance, Retirement and Benefits, Administration, Pioneers Homes, Senior Services, and the Office of Public Advocacy.
