BLM reschedules scoping meetings

BLM Alaska State Director Henri Bisson said Aug. 10 that scoping meetings for a management plan for the 9.2 million acres in the southern portion of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska have been rescheduled.

The Anchorage meeting will be Aug. 16 at the BLM Campbell Tract Facility at 6:30 p.m.

Other meetings are: Atqasuk Sept. 15; Barrow Sept. 14; Buckland Aug. 24; Fairbanks Sept. 1; Koyuk Aug. 22; Nome Aug. 23; Nuiqsut Aug. 29; Point Hope Aug. 25; Point Lay Sept. 13; and Wainwright Sept. 12.

A meeting in Anaktuvuk Pass has not yet been scheduled and meetings have already been held in Ambler, Kiana, Kivalina and Kotzebue.

BLM said it will accept public comments on issues to be addressed in the plan and responses to the call for nominations for areas for possible oil and gas leasing in the southern NPR-A through Oct. 17.
