Williams closes purchase of interest in trans-Alaska pipeline

Petroleum News Alaska

Williams Alaska Petroleum has completed its purchase of a 3.0845 percent interest in the trans-Alaska pipeline system from Mobil Alaska Pipeline Co., the company said July 5. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Ralph Hill, senior vice president and general manager of petroleum services and exploration and production for Williams, said: “This ownership position in the trans-Alaska pipeline will not only add to our existing presence in Alaska, ... We believe that it strategically positions us to participate in the transportation of future hydrocarbons developed on the North Slope.”

Williams has a petroleum refinery in North Pole that receives crude oil from the trans-Alaska pipeline, a distribution terminal at the Port of Anchorage, 28 retail petroleum convenience stores and an interest in an air cargo transfer facility at Anchorage International Airport.
