Gas Chain is Opened

The first network of independent gasoline outlets in South-central and Interior Alaska has been opened by Tesoro Alaska Petroleum Corp.

The firm has launched an advertising campaign for its 12 outlets, including seven in Anchorage; two in Kenai which now processes about 17,500 barrels of oil per day, including 15,000 barrels per day of royalty oil purchased from the state of Alaska.

The refinery produces jet fuel, diesel fuel, furnace oil and residuals. Much of the fuel is sold to the military in Alaska, while the residuals are exported to Japan.

Tesoro Alaskan also operates a tank farm in the Port of Anchorage.

Plans are in motion to expand refinery facilities so gasoline can be processed.
