Laird leaves BP, will join Petro Marine Services

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Paul Laird, director of external communications for BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc., joins Petro Marine Services July 6 as corporate communications manager.

Petro Marine has petroleum marketing operations in Kodiak, and southeastern and southcentral Alaska.

Dale Lindsey, owner of Petro Marine, said Laird has been with BP for 11 years and his departure from the British oil company was no reflection on BP. “I have good feelings about this company, (but) now it’s time to do something different,” Laird said.

A. J. McClanahan, former corporate communications manager for Petro Marine Services, is working with Cook Inlet Region Inc. on historical articles and publications related to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act.

McClanahan, a former editor of the Tundra Times, joined CIRI in June 1998 after five years with Petro Marine Services.
