Hearings for Beaufort Sea areawide sales
The State of Alaska is holding hearings to take public testimony on the proposed Beaufort Sea areawide oil and gas lease sale preliminary finding.
The Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, said May 5 that public testimony on the preliminary finding will be taken at the meetings. Division staff will be on hand to answer questions.
The Barrow meeting will be May 11 in the North Slope Borough Assembly room. There will be an informal question and answer session from 6-7 p.m., followed by public testimony from 7-8 p.m.
The Nuiqsut meeting will be May 12 at the Kisik Community Center with the informal question and answer session from 3-4 p.m. and public testimony from 4-5 p.m.
The Kaktovik meeting will be May 19 at the City of Kaktovik meeting room, with the informal question and answer session from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by public testimony from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
The preliminary finding, released in early April, is available on the division’s Web site at www.dog.dnr.state.ak.us.
The public comment period closes June 1.
