Arctic Directory: PND announces two senior engineer promotions

PND Engineers Inc. said Jan. 17 that it is proud to announce the promotions of PND Senior Engineers Obadiah Dawson, PE, and Owen Rohler, PE, both of whom recently passed their principles and practice of engineering examinations to earn their professional engineering licenses in the state of Alaska. Dawson graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a civil engineering degree in spring 2020; he went to work at our PND Anchorage office one month later. Rohler worked at PND in a temporary capacity from June 2020 to December 2020; he graduated from UAA with a civil engineering degree in winter 2020 and then started full-time at the firm in January 2021. Dawson's primary focus is bridge, marine, and building structural design. He is also a certified level I rope access technician per the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association International and Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians. Dawson performs gravity and lateral design for existing and new structures in regions containing large seismic, wind and snow loads. He has experience analyzing and designing structures consisting of timber, reinforced concrete, aluminum, light-gauge steel and structural steel materials. Dawson has been heavily involved in PND's biennial BP/Hilcorp infrastructure integrity management and Alpine and Kuparuk area bridge inspection programs on the North Slope of Alaska over the last two years. Rohler, who now works out of PND's Palmer office, is primarily involved in transportation engineering and projects involving site design, utilities, roadways and culvert replacements. He is also an Alaska-certified erosion and sediment control lead.
