Alyeska reports 29 million barrel throughput for August

Petroleum News Alaska Staff

Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. said Sept. 7 that it shipped 29,079,000 barrels of oil through the trans-Alaska pipeline in August, for a year-to-date throughput of 244,812,000 barrels. The daily average for August was 938,000 barrels and the year-to-date average is 1,003,000 barrels per day.

August reliability was 99.9 percent. The pipeline reliability factor is the amount of time the pipeline is operating and available to transport North Slope crude oil. Year-to-date reliability is 99.96 percent.

The pipeline was shut down on Aug. 28 because of a loss of status on a remote gate valve and 28,100 barrels were deferred, affecting the reliability factor for the month.
