Oil Patch Bits: Calista Corp. announces sale of The Cordova Times

Calista Corp. said Aug. 2 that it is pleased to announce the sale of The Cordova Times to Jennifer Gibbins. Gibbins is currently the editor for the weekly newspaper and will assume ownership effective late August. The Cordova Times is one of the six weekly newspapers published by Alaska Newspapers Inc., a wholly owned Calista subsidiary.

Gibbins has served as the paper’s editor for the past year, and has lived in Cordova for the past eight years. She is looking forward to sharing the extraordinary qualities of the community with the rest of Alaska and the world.

“It is a pleasure to know the legacy of The Cordova Times will continue in such capable and dedicated hands,” said Calista Corp. Senior Vice President Margaret Nelson.

“I am honored and excited by the opportunity to help carry on the tradition of The Cordova Times which has been a part of the town for over 100 years,” said Gibbins. “And I am thankful for the enthusiastic support of the community and assistance Calista has provided to me in helping make this ownership possible. Everyone involved has been very sincere in wishing the paper to continue.”
