Fall lease sale delayed to December

Bloomberg is reporting in a Sept. 8 story that the State of Alaska is delaying its October oil and gas lease sales until December.

Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Dan Sullivan told Bloomberg in an interview that the state hasn’t set a date, but said the sale would probably be held at the beginning of December.

Areawide oil and gas lease sales for the North Slope, the Beaufort Sea and the North Slope Foothills had been scheduled for Oct. 26.

Sullivan told Bloomberg that the state has the potential to gain back some leases that have expired or come out of litigation; he said the state wanted to get as many leases as possible into that lease sale.
