COMPANIES IN THE NEWS: Security Aviation acquires second Piper Navajo
Anchorage, Alaska-based Security Aviation Inc. acquired a second Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftain on Nov. 21, expanding its fleet to six twin-engine aircraft, the company said in a press release.
Security said the turbo-charged twin-engine airplane is “equipped with a full range of avionics, seats nine, has a large cargo door for oversized freight, and will be used for flights in and around the state of Alaska and Canada.”
Security Aviation President Stephen “Joe” Kapper said the acquisition of the aircraft will enhance the existing fleet.
“The Navajo is one of the safest light twins in use throughout the state today and we’re pleased to have two in our fleet. Piper Navajos are particularly well suited for the harsh Alaska environment.”
Security has been in business since 1985. Kapper took the helm of the company in December 2002 upon the death of his father, owner and founder Mike O’Neill.
The company’s “impeccable safety record makes it the first choice when chartering in Alaska,” Security said.
Security has established contracts with the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the state of Alaska, General Dynamics, Federal Aviation Administration, oil and gas companies, as well as its 24/7 on-demand charter clients.
