Linc adopts new global strategic plan

Linc Energy Ltd. has adopted a strategic plan calling for divestments to improve its balance sheet and a focus on heavy oil, shale and underground coal gasification.

A presentation recently published by the Australian company made no mention of Alaska, although the company has said it is continuing to advance engineering for its Umiat development in the foothills of the Brooks Range Mountains and on commercializing an underground coal gasification project in the Cook Inlet region.

The plan calls for divesting “non-core” assets. In the past, the company has referred to the Umiat project as a “core” asset, which would require shareholder approval to divest.
