Russia raises export duty on crude oil

by The Associated Press

The Russian government increased the export duty on crude oil by 33 percent to 20 euros ($19.10) per metric ton from 15 euros ($14.37) per metric ton, a news report said March 6.

The resolution, signed by acting President Vladimir Putin March 2, also raises the export duty on gasoil to 15 euros ($14.37) per ton from 10 euros ($9.50) per ton, the Interfax news agency said.

The hike will take effect a month after the government publishes the resolution.

Russian oil and natural gas producers account for about one-third of the country’s tax revenues.
