Governor plans briefing on North Slope natural gas line negotiations

Alaska Gov. Frank Murkowski said April 13 that with the receipt of a third application under the Alaska Stranded Gas Development Act, from the Alaska Gasline Port Authority, the administration won’t be able to get a contract to the Legislature before it adjourns on May 10.

The port authority application deserves “every consideration” the governor said, “and obviously we’ve not had much of an opportunity to assign a team to that third proposal.”

The administration will be working on the three applications, he said, “and then I think it would be appropriate prior to the Legislature’s going out, to give them a non-confidential update on the status of the three projects because clearly we’re not going to have a submission prior to the end of the legislature session…”
