Legislators to hear natural gas update

A joint meeting of the Alaska Senate and House Resource Committees and the House Special Committee on Oil and Gas in Fairbanks Aug. 23 will hear an update on the latest developments in the Nenana basin, with presentations by partners involved in the natural gas project, including Usibelli Energy and Doyon Ltd.

Rep. Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, co-chair of House Resources, said the afternoon presentation Aug. 23 “will be on gasifying Fairbanks. It’s not going to be as easy or inexpensive as some people might think,” he said.

A presentation on the afternoon of Aug. 22 will be a mining update, including Fort Knox and Teck-Pogo. The sessions are at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly Chambers and will be teleconferenced at the Anchorage Legislative Information Office.
